Dem go finish your biscuit! Sales Girl Eats Biscuits Worth 4 Million Naira From A Supermarket In Ibadan

A sales girl, Omolola Gracen has been charged to Onidundu Magistrate court for theft. She was accused of eating some assorted and exotic biscuits from the supermarket in which she was entrusted. She was arrested and later charged because she was alleged to have eaten four million Naira worth of biscuits and other items from the shop. She did this within a period of eight years. According the prosecuting officer, the woman in her thirties had work in the popular supermarket in Ibadan, for about eight years. During her tenure as sales supervisor, the woman ate three to five packs of exotic biscuits during her break every day, occasionally taking wine.
Likewise, as recently reported in a print medium, asales girl with another big grocery store, Mariam, was reportedly arrested and arraigned before a Lagos Magistrate Court for allegedly stealing the sum of N553, 956, 000 she made from sales just a month after securing the job. The prosecutor, Adesulu, told the court that the accused destroyed the trust reposed in her as a sales girl by her employer and stole the sum of N535, 956,000 she made from sales instead of paying the money into her employer’s account. She said the management of Stores uncovered the fraud when they audited the account. In another development, the Police on last Thursday arraigned a 26-year-old salesgirl, Debora, at a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court in Abuja over alleged N894, 000 stealing. The Prosecutor, Dalhatu, informed the court that one Zainab, of similar address with the suspect, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, on April 27. Dalhatu said the plaintiff explained that the respondent was employed as a salesgirl at her shop at Katampe Extension Abuja. He explained that on the same date she sent her to the shop, the respondent defraudedd one Hafsat Joseph of N894, 000.
In view of the foregoing, the rate at which sales girls betray their principals, nowadays, is becoming alarming. Hardly can one find a God-fearing sales representative in these present days of get-rich-quick mentality. People keep saying there is no job, but employees are also on rampage at betraying and liquidating their employers. Government should, therefore, ensure the trend is curtailed so as not to discourage the employers of labour.
